Windows 11's "Do Not Disturb" feature has, unfortunately, been known to behave unexpectedly. Windows will automatically turn it on when presenting, when duplicating to a second display (but not when extending), and occasionally for a set amount of time after a Windows Feature Update.
To manually turn Do Not Disturb off on a Windows 11 computer, follow these steps:
- Open the Windows Notification Center (found on the right side of your taskbar). If "Do Not Disturb" is turned on, you will see a bell icon with trailing "Z"s.
- Click on the blue "Do Not Disturb" icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Notification Center.
- If after clicking the Do Not Disturb icon, the icon changes from blue to the same color as the rest of the Notification Center (in this case, white), Do Not Disturb is now off!
Please be aware: if you start another presentation, duplicate your display again, or perform any other action that causes Do Not Disturb to turn on by default, Do Not Disturb will be turned back on until that action has ended. To prevent Do Not Disturb from turning on when using a second display, please see our support article on that process.
