If Windows Security has notified you that a malicious file was found on or blocked from running on your computer, please immediately contact Computer Services by phone or email, or by submitting a support ticket, then disconnect your computer from Wi-Fi and/or Ethernet to disconnect it from the network. Next, please start a full system scan of your computer using Windows built-in virus & threat protection tools. To do so, please follow these steps:
- Click on the "Search" bar on your taskbar
- Search for "Virus and Threat Protection"
- Open Virus and Threat Protection
- In the Windows Security window, click "Scan Options"
- Select "Full scan," then select "Scan now."
- Wait for the scan to complete. It may take quite some time. While Windows Defender scans your computer for malicious files, you can continue to work - however, please keep the Windows Security window open while the scan completes. You can minimize that window, but please do not exit out of it.
- If any malicious files are detected during the scan, please contact Computer Services immediately.
